The perfect performance of your children.
The best movie EVER.
The thrill of victory.
The magic of holding a newborn .
The liberation of running in the rain.
The bliss of crossing the finish line.
The soothe of a melody.
The playfulness of a new puppy.
The stillness of holding a hummingbird. (I was blessed by this once as the hummingbird knocked itself out on my sliding glass window. I went outside to see what happened, I picked her up and got to see the most magnificent color-changing in her body. She woke up, seemed to look right at me, said thank you and fluttered off. SO precious!)
The radiance of a smile.
The enchantment of a whispering breeze.
What do all these things have in common?
They feel good, right?
It’s been raining here in sunny California and it’s awesome!! I enjoy the only 2 seasons we get: hot and sorta-but-not-really cold….to the Mid-Westerners but CRAZY for us when it gets down in the 40’s (you guys know how socal people get!), and today was a perfect day to find that “feeling,” the one that says peace, stillness, and everything is as it should be: perfect; that no worries, no matter what supposedly “is,” are present unless I allow them in.
But I have to get out of my head, and often, to allow in this feeling, and when I do, I feed the goodness rather than everything else.
I read this as a post today on Facebook by John Assaraf:
“Great little parable-
Inside each of us two wolves are fighting. One wolf represents anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, and resentment. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, truth, and compassion. This same fight is going on inside of you, and me and every other person. …
Which wolf will win?
The one you feed most.
Which wolf are you feeding today?”
So I chose to feed the joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, truth, and compassion.
Sometimes to feed the peace I go to the beach and just sit and watch the ocean standing at the shore while communing with it, I’ll go to the mountains and find a cliff to sit on; sometimes I’ll sit in silence and meditate, among other things.
Today I walked barefoot in the mud! 🙂
It was cold, mushy and I had to apologize to the worms I squished. They said it was no problem as they knew I was coming, and that they were happy to help. 🙂
And guess what? I started laughing thinking about the worms and their kindness, I felt grateful that I had a place to go to wash off my muddy feet and that I had shoes to put on them. I felt completely lightened and before I knew it, I left my head and jumped into my heart!
And when I’m in my heart, feeding ME, I can create stuff- -like this blog as it effortlessly leaves my fingers, or work on the book I’m writing, creating fitness stuff to share and generating the energy to do it all with full presence, integrity and the sauciness only I can do it with.
Too “woo-woo” for you?
Maybe it’s just what you need- -to get outta your head and into living! 🙂
So today I beat the big bad wolf with mud, and it was fun!
Clothes can be washed, cars can be cleaned and the soul loves to play.
